Charles Shilling
Charles Carroll Shilling, age 79, of Texarkana, Texas, passed away Sunday morning, May 28, 2017 after spending the day Saturday surrounded by his children and grandchildren.
Mr. Shilling was born October 9, 1937 in Texarkana, Texas. He was a proud veteran of the United States Navy, was a member of the Lodi James Gang and the Grumpy Old Men Golf Group. He loved all things outdoors, coached little league and volunteered at local elementary schools. Charles was a salesman by trade and never met a stranger. With a keen sense of humor and a dry wit, he kept everyone laughing.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ann Shilling, and one son, David Nichols.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Danuta Nichols of Lodi, Texas; daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and John Howell of Farmers Branch, Texas; daughter, Katy Shilling Blount of Shreveport; five grandsons, Steven Polk of Dallas, Will Nichols, Sean Nichols and Brian Nichols of Houston, and Carson Blount of Colorado; three granddaughters, Katelyn Flournoy, and her husband, Alex, and Hannah Blount all of Colorado; and Amanda Brown, and her husband Cameron of Austin; and one great-granddaughter, Savannah Baliff of Dallas.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, June 2, 2017 at Old Foundry Cemetery, FM 248, Lodi, Texas under the direction of Texarkana Funeral Home, Texas.
