Learn how to write grants this summer

The Extended Education and Community Developmen­t department at Texas A&M University-Texarkana will offer two grant-writing courses this summer on best practices in researchin­g and writing grant proposals.

Introducti­on to Grants, a four-session seminar, will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. July 11, 13, 18 and 20 in University Center 216 on the A&M-Texarkana campus. Designed for those new to grants and grant writing, the course will focus on how to identify and locate grant opportunit­ies, how grants work and how to apply. The cost is $249.

Grant Writing 101, a fourhour writing seminar, will be held Aug. 1 and 8 in UC 216 on the A&M-Texarkana campus. It is designed for those who have identified a grant opportunit­y and want to get started. Those who lack prior knowledge of grants are encouraged to take Introducti­on to Grants prior to this class. Cost is $149.

Instructor for both courses is Dr. Dayna Goldstein, assistant professor of English at A&M-Texarkana. Goldstein has a Ph.D. in English from Kent State University, a Master of Arts degree in English from A&MCorpus Christi and a Bachelor of Science degree in organizati­onal communicat­ion from the University of Utah. Prior to coming to A&M-Texarkana, she taught writing classes at Georgia Southern University and Kent State University.

“We are thrilled to bring these opportunit­ies to Texarkana and the four-state region,” Shelley Caraway, executive director of Extended Education and Community Developmen­t, stated in a press release.
