Mrs. Kennedy passed away Saturday, June 03, 2017 in Marshall, Texas.

Edris Louise Nash Kennedy was born November 10, 1924 in Texarkana, Arkansas to Homer and Lela Stott Nash. Louise was raised in Texarkana, attended school there and was a member of the North Heights School graduating class of 1942. She was an excellent student, obtaining high marks in all of her classes and played guard on the girls’ basketball team in high school.

On May 30, 1942, one day after graduation, Louise and Roy were married in Hope, Arkansas. In the early years of their marriage, Roy and Louise traveled to many places while Roy was serving our country in the United States Military. During this time, they lived in Arkansas, Florida, Kansas, and Pennsylvania all while making lifelong friends along the way.

Louise was a devoted mother of four, two boys and two girls. She served as Scout Den Mother, was active in the PTA for 24 years, serving not only for her children, but her grandchildren. When it came time to get away from it all and spend time as a family, Louise and Roy packed up and took the family to Camp Albert Pike in the foothills of Arkansas. Every year they spent a week camping, cooking outdoors, hiking and swimming; spending quality time as a family.

Outside the home, Louise worked as a typesetter for the Marshall News Messenger, a job she loved as it helped her become an excellent speller. Later she worked for the Harrison County District Clerks Office, where she would later retire from the county at the age of 72.

Louise was an active member of the Marshall Business and Professional Women and served as 3rd Vice President, Second Vice President, President Elect and Project Chairman. During this time she was awarded the NIKI award for outstanding BPW member for 2 years. She was chosen Woman of the year 1986/1987. She enjoyed her charity work and enjoyed giving. This was evident by the Certificates of Citation and Certificates of Completion awarded for her completion of many projects.

For the past 3 ½ years, Louise called Reunion Inn of Marshall, home. While there she enjoyed spending time with the other residents, playing bingo, cards and dominos, all of which she was very good. The employees of Reunion Inn treated Louise with love and kindness. She returned that love to them.

Surviving Louise are her sons, Bill Kennedy and his wife, Nancy; Mike Kennedy and his wife, Carol; daughters, Linda Kennedy Tetreault and Betty Kennedy; granddaughters, Leslie Tetreault, Angela Kennedy Warren, Katrina Tetreault Kohane; greatgrandchildren, Chris Warren, Alex Warren, Amber Jones, Karson Ford, and Lynnleigh Scott. She is also survived by many nephews, nieces, greatnephews and great-nieces.

Preceding Louise in death were her parents, Homer and Lela Nash; husband of 66 years, Roy Kennedy; sisters, Noreen Nash Randolph, and Voncele Nash Easterling.
