Webinar aims to link small businesses with resource, information

-

The TexAmericas Center and the Texarkana Chamber of Commerce will host a webinar training session for small businesses at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Hilton Garden Inn and Convention Center.

The session will focus on helping small businesses learn more about the HUBZone program certification process and give small businesses information on the program’s requirements and benefits.

The U.S. Small Business Administration’s HUBZone program promotes economic development and employment growth in distressed areas by providing businesses in historically underutilized business zones more access to federal contracting opportunities.

“TexAmericas Center property is directly adjacent to the Red River Army Depot, and this puts the center in an attractive location for businesses working on federal contracts, especially those contracts with the depot,” said Eric Voyles, executive vice president and chief economic development officer for TexAmericas Center. “The TexAmericas Center’s HUBZone designation allows us to provide our tenants and business prospects with valuable information resources.”

Scott Norton, TexAmericas Center’s chief executive officer and executive director, agreed.

“As part of the webinar training session, the U.S. Small Business Administration will highlight all of the designated HUBZone program areas in the Texarkana region,” Norton said. “We want to make sure that small businesses throughout the region know that there are HUBZone programs in addition to the one at the TexAmericas Center.”

TexAmericas Center owns and operates one of the largest mixed industrial parks in the United States with roughly 12,000 acres of developmentland available.
