Authorities issue warrant for 2nd suspect in liquor store burglary

FULTON, Ark.—The Miller County Sheriff’s Office issued an arrest warrant for an Arkansas man in connection with a July 3 burglary of a liquor store in Fulton.

Sheriff’s deputies are looking for George Edward Adams III, 27, whose last known address is Maumelle, Ark.

Adams, who is described as 6 feet tall with brown hair, hazel eyes and weighing about 160 pounds, is believed to be the second person involved in the burglary of the Cotton Patch Liquor Store on U.S. Highway 67.

Deputies received dispatch to the business in the early morning hours of July 3, where they found evidence of forced entry into the store. Video footage indicated that two people, each of who wore dark hooded sweatshirts and shorts, were recorded walking around the store about 4 a.m. Besides the two suspects, video footage also recorded a white Chevrolet pickup parked near the store and stuck in the mud.

Further investigation yielded clues that the pickup had been stolen out of Little Rock on June 30, at which time law officers issued a statewide Be On The Lookout alert for both suspects.

Shortly after 2 p.m. July 7, both Miller County deputies and Arkansas State Police detained a person matching the description of one of the suspects—later identified as Donald Shirey, 49, from Little Rock. He was arrested and is facing charges that include burglary of a commercial building, and another felony warrant out of Oklahoma for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

Residents with information regarding Adams are urged to call the sheriff’s office at 870-774-3001.
