Couple face armed robbery charge in marijuana theft

- By Lynn LaRowe

A search warrant recently filed in Miller County, Ark., sheds light on a drug-related robbery investigation in Bowie County, Texas.

Last month a circuit judge in Miller County signed off on a search warrant for a green Toyota Camry belonging to a 17-year-old male suspected of participating in the armed robbery of a New Boston, Texas, couple who were allegedly selling marijuana from their home.

According to the search warrant affidavit, the couple was contacted

by an acquaintance on Facebook about selling some marijuana June 10. The acquaintance and a woman, Katelin Marie Jordan, 19, went to the house. The husband stayed in front of the house with the acquaintance while Jordan and the wife walked to the back of the house.

The wife reported to investigators that she was watching Jordan as she inspected bags of marijuana and that when she looked up a man was pointing a gun in her face. The man, identified in the affidavit as Eric Lamont Turner, 20, allegedly told the woman not to scream. When the woman yelled for her husband, Turner allegedly fired a round from a handgun into the ground near her foot and threatened to shoot her if she screamed again.

The woman told officers she ran across the street after Jordan and Turner allegedly ran off with the marijuana. The husband reported that

he ran around to the back of the house after hearing gunshots, concerned his wife had been injured. The husband saw Jordan, Turner and the 17-yearold running and managed to catch Jordan by her arm, according to the affidavit. The husband reported that Turner shot into the ground several times and told him to go check on his wife before the three ran away with the marijuana.

Jail records show Turner, Jordan and the 17-year-old mentioned in the Miller County search warrant affidavit are all being held in the Bowie County jail.
