Crater of Diamonds to hold night photography workshop
The Crater of Diamonds State Park will host a night photography workshop from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Aug. 19.
“There are countless subjects and settings to appreciate in photography, but one of the most fun and challenging is taking pictures at night,” said Waymon Cox, park interpreter. “Night photography offers many opportunities for creative compositions and helps the photographer to better understand the relationship between lighting and timing.”
Participants should bring a DSLR camera with a working knowledge of DSLR camera settings, a tripod, flashlight and wear comfortable walking shoes, Cox said. Point-andshoot cameras are discouraged.
“Dark-colored clothing and a remote shutter release are also helpful but not required. During the evening we’ll discuss the basics of nighttime digital photography and light drawing before going outside for handson practice,” he said.
Workshop cost is $20 per person, including a nonrefundable $10 registration fee due by Aug. 11. The remaining $15 will be due at the visitor center on the day of the workshop.
Space is limited, and a minimum of three participants is required. For more information or to register, call 870-285-3113 or email CraterofDiamonds@ arkansas.com.
“Meet other photographers, hone your skills, and enjoy an evening of fun and creative photography during night photography in the park,” Cox said.
