Marie Tidwell

Edith Marie Tidwell, 96, of De Kalb, Texas passed away on August 21, 2017 at a Texarkana, Texas Care Facility.

Marie was born in the Big Woods Community of De Kalb, Texas on May 8, 1921. She was a Homemaker and a lifetime member of Big Woods Community Church where she was Sunday School Secretary and part of the Women’s Missionary Society. Marie was also a member of De Kalb Senior Center Quilting Club and the Spice of Life Group at First Baptist Church in De Kalb, Texas.

Marie was preceded in death by her mother, Marvonia Askew; her husband, Howard Otto Tidwell; and one grandson, Jared Scott Beach.

She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Eric Beach of Wake Village, Texas; one son, David Michael “Mike” Tidwell of Texarkana, Texas; one brother and sister-inlaw, Floyd Wilson, Jr. and Holly Wilson of De Kalb, Texas; one grandson and his wife, Kyle and Jessica Beach of Texarkana, Texas; three great grandchildren, Abigail Grace Beach, Paxton Paul Beach and Caroline Marie Beach; extended family, Curtis and Lacy Shamsie and their children Colton and Annabeth Shamsie; several nieces, nephews, family members and friends.

Services will be 2:00 PM, Friday, August 25, 2017 at Big Woods Community Church in DeKalb, Texas under the direction of Bates Family Funeral Home with Bro. Billy Hooker and Bro. Scott Neathery officiating. Burial will be in Bigs Woods Cemetery in DeKalb, Texas.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM Friday, August 25, 2017 at Big Woods Community Church in De Kalb, Texas.
