After seeing limited action in his first year with the Pittsburgh Steelers, the former Texas High wide receiver came on strong near the end of the season.

He had played in only 11 of the 16 regular season games and had 17 receptions for 234 yards and two touchdowns.

The speedy wide receiver had an outstanding 13.8 yards per reception.

In the playoffs, he had four receptions for 51 yards.

After receiving Class 4A all-state honors at Texas High, Hamilton went to the University of Arkansas and had an outstanding four-year career for the Razorbacks.

Hamilton, 6-2, 201, was drafted in the sixth round by the Cincinnati Bengals, and later ended up with the Steelers.

“You can tell by all the championships the Steelers have won that they are a stable organization,” Hamilton said. “You can’t come up with that winning formula if you keep changing personnel and and coaches.”

“I always felt I could play, I just needed my opportunity, and the Steelers afforded me that,” Hamilton added. “I have made mistakes for sure, but the Steelers helped me where they saw fit, so here we are today.”

Hamilton knew from the very beginning that he could play well.

“All these teams I’ve been on, I was never the one kid that was put to the side.,” Hamilton said.

“I always knew I could play, so it was more about being at the right place at the right time for me,” he added. “A lot of places that I’ve been, the people really didn’t want you to succeed.”

“If you made it, you made it, but with the Pittsburgh Steelers, they want you to win.”
