Lady Hornets top Atlanta in four sets

HUGHES SPRINGS, Texas—Sidney Pardue served in 19 winners as Hooks defeated Atlanta, 26-24, 25-22, 23-25, 25-16, at Mustang Gym in the Hughes Springs volleyball tournament.

Kenley Kyles served in 10 points, made 14 assists and made seven digs for the Lady Hornets. Lexie Frachiseur had eight kills and three blocks, Marena Estell added six kills and three blocks, and Emma Farquhar had 27 digs.

Hooks (7-4) plays today at 9 a.m. in the winners’ bracket of the Hughes Springs tournament.

AVERY SWEEPS DeKALB

DEKALB, Texas—Maggie Miller led Avery with 11 service points and six digs as Avery swept DeKalb,25-12, 25-8, 25-23.

Cassidy Kelsoe added 11 assists, eight kills and five service points for the Lady Bulldogs, while teammate Jill Whitney finished with 11 kills and six service points.

Avery defeated DeKalb in the junior varsity contest, 25-13, 25-16.

Jaycee Clark led the Lady Bulldogs with eight points, and Chloe Stringer paced the Lady Bears with four service points.

The 9th grade Avery team beat DeKalb’s junior varsity B team, 25-8,

25-16.

The Bulldogs’ Julianna Burkett led all scorers with 11 service points, and DeKalb’s Kynli Holder had four service points.

Avery (12-4) hosts New Boston

Tuesday.
