Julie Dawn Morriss Collins, 75, of Nash, Texas, died Thursday, Aug. 24, 2017, from injuries received in an accident.
Mrs. Collins was born Aug. 22, 1942, in Huntington Park, Calif. She was vice president of human resources at JCM Industries Inc., chairman of Literacy Council of Bowie & Miller Counties and board president of HandsOn Texarkana. She was a member of Water and Waste Water Equipment Manufacturers Association, Texas Association of Business, U.S. Chamber of Commerce Small Business Council, Chapter CX P.E.O. Sisterhood, Rotary International and First United Methodist Church, Texarkana, Ark. She also was a member of the board of directors of the Wadley Foundation, Bunch Woodview Center, Cornerstone Methodist Retirement Community, North East Texas Workforce and Randy Sams’ Outreach Shelter.
Survivors include her husband, Ronald Collins; four children and three spouses, Robin Crumley of Nash, John and Tina Collins of Wake Village, Texas, Aaron and Barbara Collins of Texarkana and Summer and Matt Gonter of Baltimore; one sister, Cynthia Goerke of Texarkana; one brother, James Morriss III; four grandchildren; and a number of other relatives.
Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church with the Revs. Jamie Alexander and Rob Holifield officiating. Burial will be in Douglassville Cemetery under direction of East Funeral Home, Moores Lane.
Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at The Collins Home, 1915 Olive St., Texarkana, Texas.
