COACHES COMMENTS: Gilmer's Matt Turner was unavailable for comment.
L-E's Steve Wells—“We're excited about the upcoming year. We're athletic, and I'm ready to see how we handle the mental aspect when we face a little adversity. That's the biggest question mark in my mind. We're excited to play in such a big game against one of the better teams in Northeast Texas with a good coaching staff.
“Offensively, we want to see execution and protecting the football. We know we're going to have score some points to have a chance to win the game. They play fast and, defensively, we have to make sure we line up correctly and not give them any easy touchdowns. When you go up against a really fast offense, depth and keeping fresh guys on the field is key. Those are things we've worked on. I like where we're at starting the season.” RADIO: KMJI 93.3, 7:15 p.m.
