Lady Backs win two, lose one at Hooks tournament
HOOKS, Texas—Arkansas High’s varsity volleyball squad defeated Daingerfield in the Hooks Been There, Done That Tournament, 23-25, 25-13, 25-20.
Brooklyn Brewer led the Lady Backs with 13 service points, and Trinity Blythe led Daingerfield with 14 service points.
Queen City defeated Arkansas High, 26-24, 25-16.
Sydnee Blackwell finished with nine service points for the Lady Backs, and Jacie Lane added eight service points for Queen City.
Arkansas High defeated Jefferson,
25-18, 25-23.
Tatiyuna Johnson led the Lady Backs with 11 service points, and Mackenzie Jordan led the Lady Bulldogs with seven points.
Jefferson beat Queen City, 25-23, 25-11. Madisyn Miller led the Lady Bulldogs with 12 service points, and Payton Beckham led Queen City with 14 points.
Jefferson defeated Daingerfield, 25-13, 25-18.
Jordan led Jefferson with seven points, and Desiree Coffey added six points for Daingerfield.
Queen City defeated Daingerfield,
25-21, 25-21.
Lance added 10 points for Queen City, and Coffey chipped in eight for Daingerfield.
In Pool C, Queen City finished first, Arkansas High was second, Jefferson third and Daingerfield rounded out the fourth position.
Hooks defeated Maud, 25-0, 22-25,
25-19.
Emma Farquhar led the Lady Hornets with 29 service points, and Makenna Jones chipped in nine for Maud.
Hooks defeated Clarksville, 25-11, 25-9. Kenley Kyles led Hooks with 16 service points, and Quesha Clark added two points for Clarksville.
Hooks beat El Dorado, 25-10, 25-4. Sidney Pardue led all scorers with 18 service points for the Lady Hornets, and Ashli McCatherine added two points for El Dorado.
Clarksville defeated El Dorado, 20-25, 25-21, 25-23.
Ana Turner led Clarksville with nine points, and Caitlin Hines added 10 for El Dorado.
Maud beat El Dorado, 25-16, 25-16. Brynn Sultz led Maud with nine points, and Jordan Vonneumann Hudson added eight points for El Dorado.
Maud defeated Clarksville, 25-22, 25-17. Harley Dear scored 12 service points for Maud and Asjah Griffin chipped in four points for Clarksville.
In Pool D, the host squad Hooks finished first, Maud placed second, Clarksville in the third slot and El Dorado rounded out the bracket.
In the Gold Bracket, Pittsburg clashes with Arkansas High at 9 a.m. today, Rivercrest takes on Maud at 10 a.m., Queen City collides with Atlanta at 11 a.m., and Hooks takes on Liberty-Eylau at noon.
In the Silver Bracket, Linden-Kildare takes on Daingerfield at 9 a.m., Paul Pewitt clashes with El Dorado at 10 a.m., Jefferson takes on Colombia Christian at 11 a.m., and Clarksville battles with Mount Pleasant’s junior varsity squad at noon.
Paul Pewitt defeated Chapel Hill,
25-23, 25-21, 28-26.
Callie Osmon led Paul Pewitt with 12 service points and Jacie Crocker added 10 points.
Texas High tops Paris in four
Paris came out strong, but it wasn’t enough as Texas High’s varsity volleyball squad cruised to a 22-25, 25-16, 25-14, 25-14 win on Friday night at the Tiger Center.
Lady Tigers’ Trey Rush put herself in the spotlight, scoring 25 points and recording 18 kills. Olivia Lower finished with 11 points and 13 kills, while Unique McBride had eight kills.
Texas High (15-7) will face LibertyEylau on Tuesday.
The Lady Tigers junior varsity squad fell short to Paris, 14-25, 14-25.
Emily Meunier had five points for the Lady Tigers.
Lady Pirates fall to DeKalb
SIMMS, Texas—DeKalb flexed its muscles Friday as the Lady Bears outpowered James Bowie, 25-17, 25-16, 25-18.
Emily Tapley led the Lady Bears in scoring, finishing with 14 points, including an ace. Kynli Holder had 14 points and eight kills in the win.
James Bowie’s Ravyn Hillis recorded five points and five kills, as teammates Rachel Norman and Katie Vaughn got five kills apiece.
Emily Lathem had 12 assists for the
Lady Pirates.
DeKalb’s JV girls also were triumphant on the night, defeating James
Bowie, 25-22, 19-25, 25-23.
Lady Bears’ Adrianna Hendrix served in seven points.
McKenzie Kemp finished with 11 points, while Sarah Bruce served in 10 for the Lady Pirates.
L-E falls
SULPHUR SPRINGS, Texas — Liberty-Eylau’s varsity volleyball team fell to Sulphur Springs, 16-25, 19-25, 17-25.
Keeley Norris led the Lady Leopards with six kills and Derrica Henderson added six blocks. Kyana Norman added five service points for L-E.
L-E’s junior varsity fell to Sulphur
