FACTS: The last time the Hawks defeated the Wildcats was a 30-27 win in 2010. Since then, Paris is 4-0 against Pleasant Grove. The teams did not play against each other in 2014 or 2015. Last year, Paris went 9-4 and were undefeated in District 7-4A, Division I at 5-0. The Hawks were 6-7 and 3-2 in District 7-4A, Division II. Last week, Pleasant Grove totaled 310 yards of offense and the defense gave up 180 yards against Arkansas High. The Hawks are ranked sixth in Class 4A, Division II according to Dave Campbell's poll. Pleasant Grove's Gibson— “Paris has a really good football team and are ranked No. 12 in one poll in Class 4A, Division I. They beat a good Terrell team
handily last week.
“Offensively we have to do better controlling the line of scrimmage and dominate the game. We have to do better as a unit. Ben (Harmon) threw the ball well, our receivers made some good plays last week, and we didn't have a lot of penalties; I thought that was good. Defensively, we just need to play like we did last week. We created turnovers, had sacks, put pressure on the quarterback, stopped the run game at times. We played lights out in the first half and only gave up 20-something yards. So if we play like we did against Arkansas High, we'll be in good shape.
“On special teams, we created some big plays with a blocked punt and two field goals. We need to cover our kickoffs better and not give up the big play.”
