JACK YOUNG

Jack M. Young, 87, of Texarkana, Texas, passed away Friday, September 8, 2017, at a local hospital. Mr. Young was born February 10, 1930, inTexarkana, Ark. He was preceded in death by his wonderful wife of 63 years, Joyce E. Young.

He is survived by one son, Marty C. Young of Texarkana, Texas; two grandsons, Christopher and John Young of Texarkana, Texas; sister-in-law, Mary Hayes, of Texarkana, Texas; two nieces, Jan Roeder and husband, Rick, of Santa Anna, Calif., and Debbie Atkinson and husband, Jim, of Costa Mesa, Calif.; one nephew, Luther Winkle Jr., of Dallas, Texas.

He was retired from Red River Army Depot as a computer specialist. He was a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church, Texarkana, Ark., where he worked for a number of years as the business operations manager; taught elementary Sunday school for approximately 25 years; was a member of the Chancel Choir for 40 years; and was a member of New Covenant Sunday School Class.

The funeral service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, September 13, 2017, at First United Methodist Church, Texarkana, Ark., with the Rev. Jamie Alexander and the Rev. Rob Holifield officiating. Burial will be in Chapelwood Memorial Gardens under the direction of East Funeral HomeMoores Lane.

Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, September 12, 2017, at East Funeral Home-Moores Lane.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, Texarkana, Ark.
