Lady Tigers remain unbeaten in district play

Texas High varsity volleyball kept its perfect district play record alive, beating Pine Tree, 25-13, 21-25, 23-25, 25-14, 15-13, at home on Friday.

Vicki Willis had a team-high 25 points for the Lady Tigers, and standout Treyaunna Rush filled up the statsheet with 23 points, 20 kills and 20 assists. Teammates Katelyn Jordan and Kaitlyn Cross added 15 and 14 points, respective­ly.

Cross also finished with 13 kills and four blocks, while Olivia Lower tacked on 14 points and 12 kills.

Texas High's junior varsity team notched a victory, too, when it took down Pine Tree, 25-20, 25-16.

Lady Tigers' Emily Meunier had 15 points, while Cindy Deleon added another 14.

In ninth-grade action, Pine Tree walked out with a win, defeating THS, 26-24, 25-14.

Katerri'Yea Jamison finished the contest with 11 points for the young Lady Tigers.

Texas High (19-7, 3-0) will play host to Hallsville on Friday.

Liberty-Eylau sweeps AHS

It took only three sets for Liberty Eylau to put away Arkansas High, 25-18, 25-10, 25-19, at Razorback Gym.

Mariah Coleman Coleman and Amoiya Gentry both had 10 points, with the latter adding 11 kills to her totals for the Lady Leopards. Teammates Keeley Norris finished with eight kills as Derrica Henderson and Kyana Norman added five blocks apiece.

Liberty-Eylau will host a non-conference bout against Ashdown on Tuesday, and Arkansas High will travel to Arkadelphi­a to play the Lady Badgers on Monday.

Pleasant Grove falls to Whitehouse

WHITEHOUSE, Texas—Pleasant Grove's teams struggled against Whitehouse, as the varsity team went down in three straight sets, 20-25, 16-25, 21-25.

Madeline Haak finished with eight kills and Allison Michaelis dished out 13 assists for the Lady Hawks.

Ella Nichols led the junior varsity team with 13 points and Macey Young added 10, but the Lady Wildcats walked out with a 25-18, 15-25, 25-20 victory.

PG's freshmen squad lost, 18-25, 15-25. Zoe Smith finished with five points.

Pleasant Grove will be back in action Tuesday at home when it faces Prairiland.

Lady Hornets edge Hughes Springs

After winning the first two sets and watching the next two slip away, Hooks battled back in the fifth set to notch a tough 25-20, 25-21, 30-32, 16-25, 15-9 victory over Hughes Springs.

Lady Hornets' Abby Russ Kenley Kyles led the team, scoring 15 points apiece in the win.

Lexie Frachiseur led the net with 16 kills and five blocks, while also adding eight points, and Marena Estell contribute­d with eight kills and a block for Hooks.

Hooks (16-9, 2-1) will be on the road Tuesday when it plays Daingerfie­ld, and Hughes Springs will welcome Redwater on Friday.

Lady Lions win in five

NEW BOSTON, Texas—New Boston remains unbeaten in district play after taking Paul Pewitt to five sets and winning, 25-21, 25-6, 20-25, 22-25, 15-10, at Lions Gym.

Kristen Stuard finished with 18 service points for the Lady Lions, and Morgan McAlexande­r had 10 kills. McKenzee Thomas and Aariana Johnson added seven kills a piece, while Grace Duffer collected 26 assists.

Paul Pewitt's Ebbony Cobbins led the team with 12 points, and Brelee Lawings finished with a game-high 18 kills.

New Boston will host Redwater on Tuesday, while the Lady Brahmas will welcome DeKalb.

Paul Pewitt routs DeKalb

QUEEN CITY, Texas—Paul Pewitt cruised to a 25-18, 25-9, 25-10 sweep over DeKalb.

Lady Tigers' Evette Martinez scored six points and teammates Jarique Thomas and McKyndi Holden finished with three kills each.

Pewitt will play DeKalb on Tuesday, and DeKalb will travel to New Boston.
