UAHT names director of industry outreach, community education
The University of Arkansas Hope-Texarkana recently named Anna Lee Powell as the new Industry Outreach and Community Education director. She had previously served at the college as the Community Education coordinator and Kids’ College director since 2016.
“I am excited about the opportunity to help develop and expand community education and industry development partnerships in Hope, Texarkana and throughout the region,” Powell said. “There is a gold mine of potential in our area. Between the existing business and industry, the beneficial location of Hope and Texarkana, the hard-working people, and the resources UA Hope-Texarkana has to offer, I believe we will see some great things happen to increase opportunity here.”
Powell was born and raised in Stuttgart, Ark., and graduated from the University of Central Arkansas in 2011 with a Bachelor of Arts in political science with a minor in public administration. She has held positions at the chamber of commerce in Conway, Ark., Hewlett-Packard Software Division and Iroko Pharmaceuticals.
The Industry Outreach and Community Education division at UA Hope-Texarkana provides continuing education opportunities to area communities and businesses to promote personal growth, enrichment and competitiveness within the economy. The division offers classes to serve the comprehensive educational needs of the community. Recognizing that the educational needs of any individual are not only academic- and career-oriented but also cultural and vocational, the staff designs and arranges noncredit and credit courses, workshops, seminars and activities that offer opportunities to meet these needs.
