BASEBALL Texas A&M Texarkana baseball is having a showcase for incoming freshman and second year junior college players on Oct. 7. There will be two sessions, one session is $65 and two sessions will be $80. First session is pitching second session is defense and offense. The pitching and catching sessions is from 9 a.m.-11, and the defense and offense session is from 11:45 a.m.-3.

RUNNING The DeKalb Oktoberfest 5K is Sept. 30 at 8 a.m. at the State Bank of DeKalb. Check-in is from 7 a.m.-7:45, and there is no age limit. Anyone who can walk three miles may join in the fun. Entry fee is $10 per person before Sept. 27, and is $15 afterward. Entry fee with t-shirt is $20, and is $25 after Sept. 27. Mail form and check to DeKalb Oktoberfest 5K, P.O. SHOOTING SPORTS Tickets are being sold for $25 in the Bowie County 4-H 52-gun drawing. Tickets will be sold for 11 more weeks and are available at D&D Guns in New Boston, Texas. You may also email Cherrie at cc-curtis@tamu.edu to find the closest 4-H member with tickets for sale.
SOFTBALL Texas A&M University-Texarkana will host a youth softball hitting and fielding clinic Sunday, Sept. 24, at Bramlett Field at Spring Lake Park, 4303 North Park Road, Texarkana, Texas. There will be a free session using an 11-inch softball for youth ages 6-10 from 9 a.m.-11 and only 40 slots are available. The clinic for youth ages 10 to 8th grade using a 12-inch softball is set for 12-3 p.m. Cost is $45 and only 40 slots are available. Participants must bring a bat, glove, cleats and a water bottle. GOLF Texarkana Log A Load for Kids will hold a golf tournament on Oct. 12 at Texarkana Golf Ranch to benefit the following Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals: Arkansas Children’s Hospital of Little Rock, Texas Children’s of Houston and Children’s Health of Dallas.
Entry fee for a four-person team is $500 and includes two mulligans per player, one red tee, cart and greens fee, along with breakfast and lunch. Hole sponsorships are available for $300, and a $100 discount is available to hole sponsors who choose to enter a team. All checks may be made out to the hospital of choice: Arkansas Children’s, Texas Children’s or Children’s Health. Please put CMNH—Log A Load for Kids in the memo.

BOOSTER CLUB Texas High School will host their next Athletic Booster Club Meeting on Monday, October 2 at 6:30 p.m. in the 2nd floor conference room of the Multi-Purpose Facility. The public is encouraged to attend.
