Hawks fly into first place in district contest at Paris
PARIS, Texas—Braxton Watkins shot a 75 to lead Pleasant Grove’s varsity boys team to a first place finish at Paris Country Club in district play.
Ben LeGrand tied for second with a 77 but lost on the first playoff hole, Jackson Giles carded an 85, Daniel Nichols scored 93, and Riley Bermingham shot a 96.
Allison Jones finished second place medalist for the Lady Hawks with a 105.
VOLLEYBALL L-E JH falls to Paris
Kaclyn Nelson served in six points, but Liberty-Eylau’s 8th grade fell to Paris, 25-15, 25-12.
Isley Hubbard served in eight winners for the Lady Leopards in the 7th grade match, but the Lady Wildcats won, 25-11, 25-18.
Hawks sweep Pirates
PITTSBURG, Texas—Peyton Matthews, Hallie Lipham, and Halli Meredith each had eight service points to lead Pleasant Grove’s 8th A team over Pittsburg, 25-10, 25-8.
Addison Koller served in 12 winners, and the Lady Hawks won the 8th B match, 25-17, 25-11.
Ramsey Noble dealt the heat from the service line with 24 points as PG won the 7th A match, 25-17, 25-11.
Autumn Crouch and Winter Crouch each had six service points to lead the Hawks’ 7th B to a 25-19, 25-17 win.
Mustangs, Dragons split
RED LICK, Texas—Kaylee Tilbury served in eight winners to lead Red Lick’s 8th A over Redwater, 25-18, 25-23.
Reagan Markham paced the Lady Dragons with seven service points.
Delaney Edwards and Caroline Maynard each had five service points, and the Lady Mustangs won the 8th B match, 27-25, 10-10.
Isabel Turner had a match-high eight service points to lead Redwater’s 7th A to a 25-15, 25-19, win over Red Lick. Alyssa Randall had five service points for the Mustangs.
Redwater won the 7th B match, 25-10, 17-17 with Mayin Cauley serving in eight points. Malachi Dawson served in eight winners for Red Lick.
Hornets win 3 of 4
HOOKS, Texas—Lindra Burchette slapped in 11 service points as Hooks’ 8th A team swept Queen City, 25-20, 25-21.
Destinee Wells and Hannah Walker each had seven service points for the Lady Bulldogs.
Alley Jefferson fired in 28 service points to lead the Lady Hornets’ 7th A to a 21-25, 25-10, 25-10 win.
Both the 7th and 8th B teams split games.
Pirates, Cardinals split
SIMMS, Texas—Haley DeLoach served in seven points, and James Bowie’s 8th grade defeated Maud, 25-15, 25-20.
Madison Martin paced the Lady Pirates with 10 service winners, but Maud won the 7th grade match, 25-15, 25-12.
Brahmas earn 3 wins
HUGHES SPRINGS, Texas—Sydney Gentry had nine service points as Paul Pewitt’s 8th grade A defeated Hughes Springs, 25-11, 25-17.
Dayanna Escobar served in four points, but the Lady Brahmas’ 8th B fell to the Lady Mustangs, 25-4, 25-4, 13-8.
Makayla Jackson slapped in 16 points as Pewitt won the 7th A match, 25-13, 25-10. Emily Gabel had 15 service points to lead the Brahmas to a 25-14, 25-22 win in the 7th B match.
