Texas High boys take fourth and eighth at Lindale cross country meet

LINDALE, Texas—Will Harrell finished fourth for the Texas High's varsity boys, and teammate Owen Likins took eighth at the Lindale cross country meet Thursday.

The Tigers finished with 230 points and earned ninth place, while the Lady Tigers finished seventh with 157 points.

The junior varsity girls finished eighth with 254 points.

Football

L-E wins in high-scoring affair Talbeyon Cooper had two rushing touchdowns and threw for two TDs as Liberty-Eylau's junior varsity defeated Gilmer, 42-36.

Jaquevion Kirkendall had two receiving scores, Korbyn White had two rushing TDs, and Shannon Roy scored on a 55-yard punt return for the Leopards.

Harry Daniels made an intercepti­on and had 17 tackles for Liberty-Eylau.

Hooks edged by New Diana

NEW DIANA, Texas—It was a barn burner at Hornet Stadium.

Three different players scored a touchdown for Hooks' junior varsity—JJ Johnson with a 2-yard run, Rhett Ashmore with a 1-yard TD run, and Cameron Johnson with a 15-yard run for a score—but the Hornets were edged by New Diana, 20-19.

Miguel Herrera had a PAT kick for Hooks.

Xzavir Huey had touchdowns runs of 3 and 4 yards as Hooks' 8th grade defeated New Diana, 22-14.

Davis Johnson had a 4-yard TD run and a 2-point conversion run, and teammate Ty Thomerson helped out with a 2-point run for the Hornets.

Matthew Hays had touchdown runs of 44 and 25 yards and two, 2-point conversion runs to propel Hooks' 7th grade over the Eagles, 35-20. Hays also kicked a PAT.

Logan Davis scampered 97 yards for a score, and had a 50-yard TD run for Hooks. David Garcia scored from 80 yards out on a run for the Hornets.

Hooks' 8th grade (1-3) and 7th grade (2-1, 2-0) host Ore City Thursday.

Fouke’s JH wins by 20

FOUKE, Ark.—Kanon Garrett and Dustin Hightower each had two touchdowns to power Fouke over Smackover, 28-8, in the junior high game.

Garrett added a 2-point conversion run, while Trent Crabtree had a 2-point conversion run and finished with 120 yards rushing on 15 carries.

Koby Power and Phenix Thomas each had an intercepti­on for the Panthers.

Smackover defeated Fouke, 36-14, in the 7th grade game. Colin Foster had a touchdown and passed a 2-point conversion to Ryan Whitaker.

Ethan Thornton had a TD for the Panthers.

DeKalb’s JV edges Ore City

ORE CITY, Texas—Jamar Vaughn had four touchdown runs to lead DeKalb's junior varsity over Ore City, 38-36.

Jamar Vaughn had scores from 6,3, 2, and 10 yards out for the Bears. Ramaj Vaughn had two, 2-point conversion runs, while Jamar Vaughn had a 2-point conversion run.

Koby Williams passed a 20-yard touchdown to Dylan Birttnell, and had a 10-yard TD run as DeKalb's 8th defeated the Rebels, 16-12.

Brittnell had a 2-point conversion run, and teammate Peyton Yandle had a 2-point conversion run as well for the Bears.

Amar Love had an 8-yard touchdown run, a 56-yard TD run as DeKalb's 7th grade rolled past Ore City, 32-12.

Wyatt Huggins threw a 36-yard touchdown pass to Conrad Crouch, had a 10-yard run for a score, and threw a 2-point conversion pass to Colt Baxley for the Bears. Teammate Kaleb Dooley had a 2-point conversion run.

Nashville keeps streak alive

NASHVILLE, Ark.—The Nashville Scrappers freshmen squad won its 61st game at home against Camden Fairview, 34-12.

Ty Gordon rushed for 91 yards on 11 carries and two scores for Nashville.

Keyshawn Stewart carried the ball 10 times for 111 yards and touchdown. Stewart also caught a 33-yard touchdown pass from Gordon.

Quincy Garland added a 8-yard touchdown run for Nashville.

The 8th grade Scrappers defeated the Cardinals, 30-20, to bring their winning streak to 19 games.

Both teams are 5-0 overall this season.

Tennis

Texas High's junior varsity team defeated Arkansas High's varsity team, 17-4, at Tiger tennis courts.

Volleyball

Keonnie Strickland had 13 service points as the Lady Backs' 8th grade swept El Dorado at North Heights Junior High.

Sydney Reynolds had 11 service points to lead North Heights' 7th to a sweep over the Lady Wildcats. The 7th grade Lady Backs finished their season with a record of 9-5.
