Psychology professor will discuss learning, memory at A&M
Texas A&M UniversityTexarkana will hold a Program for Learning and Community Engagement lecture on “Learning, Memory and Beyond: Toward the Reality of the Bionic Woman and Six Million Dollar Man” at 6 p.m. Monday in University Center 217 on the A&M-Texarkana campus, 7101 University Ave.
Guest speaker will be Dr. Angela Sikorski, associate professor of psychology. She is an experimental psychologist who received her Ph.D. from the University of WisconsinMilwaukee in 2005. Sikorski was employed as a postdoctoral fellow in the neurobiology laboratory at the University of Texas at San Antonio until joining the faculty at A&M-Texarkana in 2008.
Dr. Sikorski’s research interests lie in the neurobiology of learning and memory. Specifically, she is interested in the extent to which experience alters brain morphology, learning and memory.
She is the author of numerous publications and is a member of several professional organizations, including the Southwestern Psychological Association and Society for Neuroscience. In 2015, she received the Distinguished Faculty Member Award at A&MTexarkana.
PLACE is a faculty-led program designed to create a community of learners comprising A&M-Texarkana students, faculty, staff and the community at large. PLACE chooses an annual theme around which to organize a lecture series and other activities that provide focal points for learning and discussion. This year’s theme is “Science and Technology.”
