GOLF Texarkana Log A Load for Kids will hold a golf tournament on Oct. 12 at Texarkana Golf Ranch to benefit the following Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals: Arkansas Children’s Hospital of Little Rock, Texas Children’s of Houston and Children’s Health of Dallas. Entry fee for a four-person team is $500 and includes two mulligans per player, one red tee, cart and greens fee, along with breakfast and lunch. RUN/WALK The annual Texas High School VIPS Dash 4 Cash scholarship run is now accepting registrations. This fun event will take place on Nov. 4 at the Texas High School track. Included are a 5K run/walk, a family fun run/walk and lots more fun for the entire family. Proceeds go toward scholarships for Texas High School students. Texas A&M University-Texarkana will sponsor a glow/costume 5K fun run/walk on Oct. 13 at 8 p.m. The event is open to the public and will begin at the University Center on the A&M-Texarkana campus, 7101 University Ave., Texarkana, Texas. Participants should arrive on campus by 7:30 p.m., as the university will close the parking lot for runners. Registration is $15 per person. SHOOTING SPORTS Tickets are being sold for $25 in the Bowie County 4-H 52-gun drawing. Tickets will be sold for 9 more weeks and are available at D&D Guns in New Boston, Texas. You may also email Cherrie at cc-curtis@tamu.edu to find the closest 4-H member with tickets for sale.
SOFTBALL A softball tournament that benefits the family of Betty Beckham is Oct. 8 at 1 p.m. at Grady T. Wallace Park in Texarkana, Texas. The entry fee is $150 per team, and the tournament will be played in round robin format until single elimination. Open to coed teams ages 18 and up.
