Former doctor’s office employee accused of embezzling at least $3K
A woman accused of embezzling from a local psychologist’s office surrendered to police Oct. 6.
Leslie Watt, 47, is charged with theft over $2,500 in the alleged skimming from monthly bank deposits at the office of Dr. Betty Feir on Medical Parkway, according to Sgt. Geoff Lewis, Texarkana, Texas, Police Department spokesman.
The theft was reported Aug. 24.
Detectives investigating the missing funds think Watt embezzled more than $3,000, Lewis said.
Theft over $2,500 but less than $30,000 is a felony punishable by six months to two years in state jail.
Watt was released Oct. 6 on a $5,000 bond.
