Nashville comes back to take down unbeaten Ashdown, 35-28

NASHVILLE, Ark.—Friday the 13th seems to be bad luck for the Ashdown Panthers as their undefeated season came to an end.

Nashville poured out a 35-28 victory in a conference 7-4A contest at Scrapper Stadium on Friday night.

Nashville (4-3, 2-2) lived up to its name, as the Scrappers came back from a 15-point deficit, 21-6 at halftime.

Ashdown (6-1, 3-1) held a 28-20 lead at the end of the third quarter, before Nashville scored twice in the final period.

Both teams played porely for most of the first half with 120 yards in penalties.

Ashdown also lost two fumbles and had an intercepti­on. Ashdown had a 7-6 lead at the end of the first period before scoring twice in the final five

minutes of the second quarter for a 21-6 halftime lead.

The Panthers got on the scoreboard quickly with a 98-yard pass from Brett Bond to Shuntori Montue just two minutes into the contest.

An intercepti­on by Nashville's Jamarte Gillium helped set up the Scrappers' first score. Four plays later, a 35-yard pass from Tyler Hanson to Jalen Finley scored a touchdown with 1:03 left in the first quarter.

Ashdown's scores in the second quarter came on a 21-yard pass from Bond to Ladarrius Bishop. And the other touchdown came on a 52-yard pass from Bond to Keamon Nutt, which helped make the score 21-6, with 2:57 left until halftime.

In the first half, Ashdown had 252 yards passing.

Midway in the fourth quarter, Trent Harris scored on a 18-yard run and Ty Pettway scored a 2-point conversion pass from Tyler Hanson, which tied the game 28-28.

A few minutes later, Nashville got a big break when the Panthers punter's knee hit the ground and ending the play. The Scrappers took over at the Panthers 32.

Seven plays later, Hanson scored from 1-yard out, for the winning touchdown with just 1:07 left in the game
