COACH STEVE WELLS’ COMMENTS: “Early on, they took it to us and whipped us up front. We went down 14-0 in the second quarter, and we didn’t get much going offensively in the first half. We battled

back and got a score after getting good field position. We were able to force a punt deep in their end, and we capitalized with a score.

“We came out after making some halftime adjustments and tied it up in the third quarter. We tied it up again and then took the lead late when Goben kicked field goal with 4:09 left. We just didn’t stop them on the next drive. They ran the (quarterback) keep off the counter play and got a couple big plays.

“It was good close ballgame, a physical game, and they’re good defensively. We had to stop No. 2 and No. 25, and they did a few things that hurt us with the misdirection that we didn’t fill our holes.”
