Daingerfie­ld scores 28 unanswered, decimated Hooks in 41-13 victory

HOOKS, Texas—After being tied, 13-13, near the end of the first half, Daingerfie­ld scored 28 unanswered points and went on to a 41-13 victory over Hooks here Friday night at Hornets Stadium in a District 7-3A, Division-II contest.

Daingerfie­ld (4-3) remains undefeated in district play at 3-0, while Hooks (3-5) falls to 1-3 in district action.

Daingerfie­ld scored first with an 82-yard drive in seven plays with Jakauri Woods scoring on a 6-yard run.

Chris Castleberr­y got things started for the Tigers with a 37-yard run to open the drive with 2:56 left in the first quarter.

Hooks came right back as Mason Vasquez completed passes of 33 yards to Carter Duncan and 21 yards to Slade Ruth to the 11-yard line but the drive ended on downs at the 6.

A Daingerfie­ld fumble helped set up a Hooks’ touchdown, taking over at the Tigers’ 26-yard line.

A 15-yard pass to Ruth and a 11-yard touchdown by Phillip Dickerson tied the game, 7-7, early in the second quarter.

The Tigers regained the lead when Zaylon Jeter’s 23-yard run set up Woods 1-yard touchdown run.

With just 0:59 left, Dickerson scored on a 27-yard screen pass to tie the score, 13-13, but a 32-yard pass to Tyrese Grant

with 0:07 left put Tigers back on top, 20-13.

Vasquez completed 7 of 12 passes for 141 yards in the first half to lead the Hornets.

Daingerfie­ld took the secondkick­off and marched 72 yards in 10 plays to increase its lead to 27-13. Jeter scored on a 5-yard run.

Just three minutes later, Daingerfie­ld scored again on a 40-yard run by Jeter for a 34-13 advantage.

Trodarius Lynn closed out the scoring for the Tigers with a 57-yard run with 8:53 remaining in the contest.

Castleberr­y paced the Tigers' 345-yard running attack with 110 yards on 11 carries.

Dickerson had 87 yards on nine carries that included a 70-yard run to the 4-yard line in the third quarter, but the Hornets could not advance the ball.
