From hayrides to pumpkin carving, area sees bounty of fall community events

Old Washington Farmer’s Market will hold a free kids’ carnival for ages 12 and under from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday in Washington, Ark.

There will be games, a hayride, cake walk, prizes, concession­s and more. Come dressed as your favorite characters.

Crater of Diamonds State Park will host the Diamonds in the Fall Festival on Oct. 28 at Arkansas Highway 301, Murfreesbo­ro, Ark.

A Fun Run will be held at 8 a.m. at South Pike County School, and activities will be held all day, including a cake walk, games, bounce houses, live music, costume contests for people and dogs and a Trunk or Treat.

The P.J. Ahern Home will have a Halloween Who-dunit mystery party from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 28 at 403 Laurel St., Texarkana, Ark.

There will be treats available and a pumpkin-contest. Contestant­s must bring their own pumpkins, but carving and decorating supplies will be provided. Costumes are welcome. There will be prizes for best costume, best pumpkin and best detective.

Tickets are $15 each, $50 for a family of four and a $5 discount for Texarkana Museums System members.

A Fall Festival will be held from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Oct. 28 in downtown Texarkana.

There will be live music, vendors, food trucks, bounce houses, costume contests, Trunk or Treats, a Thriller flash mob from 3 to 6 p.m. and more.

The community is invited to decorate their trunks for trick-or-treaters, ages toddler through grade school. For safety, all candy must be provided in packages.

Rehearsals for the flash mob will be 6:30 p.m. Mondays at 214 E. Broad St. The rehearsals are not mandatory and all ages are welcome.

Fairview United Methodist Church will host a country store from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 4, at 16th and Laurel St., Texarkana, Ark.

There will be crafts, canned and baked goods, door prizes and a quilt drawing at 2 p.m.
