Because of a reporting error, a story in Monday’s edition incorrectly stated that Texarkana, Texas, will have a Ward 5 City Council race in the November election.

The Ward 5 race was initially contested, but former Council Member Van Alexander dropped out and endorsed school administrator Bill Harp, his only opponent for the seat.

Harp is director of school services for Pleasant Grove Independent School District and former principal at Pleasant Grove High School. He will replace Council Member Christy Paddock, who chose not to run for re-election.

Because of a reporting error, the date in the Texarkana, Ark., Advertising & Promotion Commission was incorrect in Monday’s edition. The Texarkana, Ark., Advertising and Promotion Commission will hold a special meeting to discuss a recent judge’s ruling concerning the Arkansas Convention Center.

The meeting is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. Wednesday at City Hall, 216 Walnut St. The ruling is the only item on the agenda.
