LONGVIEW, Texas—Pleasant Grove is in the playoffs again.

The Lady Hawks (24-12) and Mabank (26-16) face off in a Class 4A bi-district playoff volleyball match today at 6 p.m. at Pine Tree High School.

“I think we finished district strong and healthy,” Pleasant Grove head coach Amy Collvins said. “We have been moving well as a team and we’re healthy so I am excited about that. We played Mabank in the John Tyler tournament, and we beat them 2-1 in

pool play. I think we are better offensively and defensively.”

Senior Madeline Haak starts at middle blocker/defensive specialist, senior Britton Anderson is outside hitter/defensive specialist, and senior Reagan Franks starts at ride side hitter. Kaylee Kelley, a junior, will start at setter, and junior Macey Adams starts at outside hitter/defensive specialist, Natalie Hale, a junior, is the middle blocker, and fellow junior Sydney Hopkins is the libero.

Rotating in are junior right side hitter Madi Morris, senior Allison Michaelis, setter, junior Grace Pickelman, defensive specialist. Georgia Cobb, a sophomore, comes in at right side hitter, while freshmen Katie Ferguson and Macy Young rotate in at outside hitter/setter and setter, respectively.

“We have to take care of us,” Collvins said. “We need to play our faster game and defense. I think our serve receive and blocking will be two keys to the match. We are there for a reason and so is Mabank.”

The winner will play either Bullard or Henderson in the area round later this week.
