Redwater overcomes Hughes Springs, 24-8

HUGHES SPRINGS, Texas— Redwater’s junior varsity squad defeated Hughes Springs on the road, 24-8.

Logan Johnson scored two touchdowns on runs of 15 and 25 yards. Johnson also scored a 2-point conversion for the Dragons.

Tanner Royal scored on a 9-yard run and Preston Davis punched in the 2-point conversion for Redwater.

Nick Fernandez scored a 2-point conversion and also snagged a intercepti­on for the Dragons.

Redwater’s 8th grade squad tied with Hughes Springs, 8-8.

Jonathan Ketchum caught a 59-yard strike from Malcolm Brown. Ketchum also scored the 2-point conversion for the Dragons.

Hughes Springs defeated Redwater’s 7th grade team, 30-8.

David McKeever scored on a 3-yard run and Austin Smith scored the 2-point conversion for Redwater.

DeKalb prevails

DEKALB, Texas—DeKalb’s junior varsity squad escaped with a win at home against Hooks, 14-13.

Logan Richardson scored on a 2-yard run for Hooks and Benji Johnson dashed to the endzone for a 2-yard score. TJ Johnson finished with 93 yards rushing and Joe Hackleman added 6 tackles. Kylie Cagby booted an extra point for the Hornets.

AJ Burgins threw a 20-yard pass to Demarcus Ingram for DeKalb. Burgins also connected with Ramaj Vaughn on the 2-point conversion. Jamar Vaughn dove in the endzone for a 2-yard score.

Hooks won the 8th grade contest with DeKalb, 14-0.

David Johnson scored on a 80-yard run for the Hornets and Traveon Jones scored on a 14-yard run. Xzavier Huey punched in the 2-point conversion. Kielon Estell added an intercepti­on for Hooks.

DeKalb won the 7th grade clash with Hooks, 30-2.

Amar Love scored on runs of 20, 32 and 64 yards for the Bears. Caleb Dooley scored two 2-point conversion­s for DeKalb. Conrad Crouch caught a 5-yard pass from Wyatt Huggins for the final score of the night. Huggins punched in the 2-point conversion for the Bears.

QC tops Pewitt

OMAHA-NAPLES, Texas— Queen City’s junior varsity defeated Paul Pewitt, 34-28.

Logan Shelton scored on runs of 3 and 4 yards. Shelton also punched in a 2-point conversion.

Vonte Frank scored on rushed of 3 and 47 yards. Frank converted the 2-point play for the Bulldogs. Demarques Gamble scored on a 15-yard run and Justin Lance scooped a fumble recovery for the Queen City defense.

Queen City (6-3) will host DeKalb at 7 p.m.

T’angelo Neal’s three touchdown performanc­e propelled Queen City past Paul Pewitt in the 8th grade game, 26-22.

Brandon Parkman also scored on a 1-yard run for Queen City.

Queen City (6-1) will host DeKalb on Thursday.

Queen City’s 7th grade squad defeated Paul Pewitt, 20-6.

Jeremiah Drayton scored two rushing touchdowns and also returned a kickoff for a touchdown. Drayton also punched in the 2-point conversion for Queen City.

Lions blank Sabine

NEW BOSTON, Texas—New Boston throttled Sabine at home in the junior varsity contest, 26-0.

Gavin Rawls scored for the Lions on a 20-yard toss from Kyle Atkinson. Atkinson also scored on runs of 15 and 51 yards. Garrett Brown returned an intercepti­on for 37-yards for a score.

Mr. Sumner had two intercepti­ons for New Boston and Tyrone Hunter added 11 tackles.

TMS defeats Hallsville

Texas Middle School defeated Hallsville in the 8th grade A game, 28-26.

Taeshun Richardson caught two touchdown passes from Brayson McHenry for the Tigers. Demarco Banks scored on a 30-yard run and also punched in the 2-point conversion for TMS. Jalen Woodside caught a 40-yard dart from McHenry for a score. McHenry also punched in a 2-point conversion for TMS. Javarious Tyson led the Tigers in tackles and also collected an intercepti­on.

TMS won the B game against Hallsville, 20-14.

Michael Sanders scored on a 77-yard run for the Tigers. Joshua Stewart caught a 10-yard pass from Reese Cody for a score. Cody also scored on a 1-yard run and Sanders punched on a 2-point conversion.

L-E tops Princeton

PRINCETON, Texas— Liberty-Eylau’s 9th grade squad defeated Princeton, 28-18.

Ahmjay Carter, TaKylan Hampton and Semondre Lewis scored rushing touchdowns for the Leopards. Hampton and Lewis scored 2-point conversion­s for L-E.

Parker Goodman, Lamarcus Moore and Stephen Nelson were credited as defensive standouts. Kentraille Collins snagged an intercepti­on for the Leopards.

Liberty-Eylau (4-4) will host Quinlan Ford on Thursday.

Basketball Red Lick, Trinity Christian split

Red Lick defeated Trinity Christian in the 8th grade boys game, 36-35.

Jacob Grierson led Red Lick with 14 points. Silas Nix dropped 20 points to lead TC and Will Smith added 11 points.

Red Lick defeated TC in the 7th grade boys game, 34-25.

Ben Bricker led Red Lick with 11 points.

Zach Graf led the Trinity Christian with 12 points and Marley Franklin added 11 points.

TC won the 8th grade girls game with Red Lick, 48-38.

Gracie Luckel poured in 20 points for Trinity Christian and Landi Williamson added 10 points.

Ann Elise Lindsay led Red Lick with 17 points and Addison Alexander contribute­d 14 points.

Trintity Christian won the 7th grade game against Red Lick, 28-8.

Hannah Leeper and Alysha McClure, each scored eight points for TC.

Emma Henard led Red Lick with six points.

TENNIS

Texas Middle School tennis played Longview Middle School Thursday winning 18-5 at Texas High School.
