AHS frosh win in first round of tourney

EL DORADO, Ark.— Stajiah Taylor scored 10 points to lead Arkansas High’s ninth grade to a 30-21 win over Pine Bluff in the first round of the El Dorado basketball tournament.

Hooks earns 3 wins

HOOKS, Texas—Ashlyn Bruce poured in 22 points as Daingerfie­ld’s eighth grade defeated Hooks, 44-7, in a junior high girls basketball game.

Diamond Jeter added 14 for the Lady Tigers. Lindra Burchette had five points for the Lady Hornets.

Alley Jefferson had 24 points, and teammate Kalli Latham chipped in 10 for the seventh grade A team as Hooks won, 38-5.

The Hornets won the eighth grade B game, 8-6, and the seventh grade B game, 8-2.

DeKalb wins 3 of 4

DEKALB, Texas—Aniyah Johnson scored 15 points to lead DeKalb’s eighth A team to a 29-16 win over Hughes Springs.

Karmen Searcy paced the Lady Mustangs with seven points.

Lauren Hardman scorched the nets for 16 points, Hughes Springs won the eighth B game 20-6. Miryan Alvaredo had four points for the Lady Bears.

Coriana Fullbright poured in 14 points, and teammate Jamya Blaylock added 12 as DeKalb won the seventh A game, 36-3.

Jaylynn Hayden had eight points as the Bears’ seventh B team won, 9-0.

Leopards defeat Panthers

Bryana Block torched the nets for 15 points as Liberty-Eylau won the eighth A game, 40-21, over North Lamar at the Rader Dome.

Ebonee Roquemore pulled down 10 rebounds for the Lady Leopards.

Miyah Hurd fired in 21 points to lead L-E’s seventh A to a 32-19 win over the Lady Panthers.

Karmen Crowley had four points, but the Leopards fell to NL in the seventh B game, 23-4.

PG sweeps Atlanta

Aniyah Allen scored 10 points as Pleasant Grove’s eighth grade A defeated Atlanta, 33-13, at Hawk Gym.

Kiyanah Murphy scored six points, and the Lady Hawks won the eighth B game, 16-14.

Mackenzie Williams kept the scorekeepe­r busy with 13 points as PG won the seventh A game, 38-12.

Supriya Sharma shot in six points to lead the Hawks’ seventh B to a 34-2 win.

Brahmas win 3

QUEEN CITY, Texas—Sydney Gentry poured in 10 points to lead Paul Pewitt’s eighth grade A to a 36-13 win over Queen City.

Nyla Harrison had eight points for the Lady Bulldogs.

Queen City won the eighth grade B game, 28-3.

Mckayla Jackson lit up the scoreboard with 22 points, and the Lady Brahmas won the seventh grade A contest, 58-5. Cailey Henry had four points for QC.

Paul Pewitt won the seventh B game, 12-8.

Lions, Dragons split

NEW BOSTON, Texas—Reagan Markham lit up the nets for 14 points, and teammate Cooper Frachiseur had 12 as Redwater won the eighth grade A game, 42-12.

Gracie Brown and Jaquelyn Packard had four points each for the Lady Lions.

Victoria Burns scored eight points, and New Boston won the seventh A game, 33-12. Meredith Craig had seven points for the Lady Dragons.
