- —EARL GILL

LAST WEEK: Arkansas High fell to 6A-West rival El Dorado at Memorial Stadium on Senior Night, 28-0.

THIS WEEK: The Razorbacks (5-5, 3-4) travel to Northeast Arkansas to take on the Marion Patriots (5-5, 4-3) in the first round of the Conference 6A Playoffs.

OFFENSIVE STANDOUTS: Hog junior DeJordan Mask led Arkansas High receiving with four snags for 37 yards. Drake Browning finished with two catches for 28 yards, and Irijah Price caught one pass for 21 yards. Tyrie Black started in the backfield for the Razorbacks, finishing with six carries for 20 yards.

DEFENSIVE STANDOUTS: Cameron Collier led the Hogs defensive unit with 11 tackles from his linebacker position, totaling 98 for the year. Tre Cleveland continued to wreck havoc on offenses, racking up seven tackles, bringing his season total to 115 tackles on the season. Kendricks Young finished the night with five tackles, finishing second on the team with tackles in the regular season with 103.

COACH BARRY NORTON’S COMMENTS: “We fighting along there pretty good, its the same story. It was 7-0 there at half. We couldn’t get things going offensively against a sound defensive unit. When they scored off our offensive turnover, it kinda broke our back at that point. I saw where that was

Coach (Scott) Reed’s 101th victory in 11 years, so obviously they’ve been doing it right for a long time. It’s a long-standing program with a rich tradition of winning. We went into the game short-handed at the running back position.

“That game was not going to change our seeding in the playoffs. We went in knowing our situation with the playoffs, so we built our gameplan around such. We got some good things out of our game. We wanted to win and tried to win, but just couldn’t get the victory. Hopefully, we will be a little more healthier than we were last week. We have a long trip ahead of us on Friday, I hope the Siloam Springs trip has prepared us for that. In the playoffs, you have to get up and go. I don’t mind that at all but our staff must prepare the kids for the trip.”
