LAST WEEK: The Tigers scored late to post a come-from-behind 39-34 win over Hallsville.
THIS WEEK: Texas High closes out the regular season at Pine Tree, with second place on the line in the District 16-5A standings.
OFFENSIVE STANDOUTS: WR Tevailance Hunt threw a touchdown pass and hauled in three others, finishing with six catches for 172 yards. QB Riley Russell completed 23 of 31 passes for 310 yards and four scores, and RB Chris Sutton rushed 21 times for 138 yards. WR Vonderic Stanley added 10 receptions for 76 yards amd a score, and Kendall Reid had a 27-yard TD reception from Hunt.
DEFENSIVE STANDOUTS: DB Darrell Webster had an interception, LB Tim Noble had a fumble recovery, Deidrick Reeves delivered 10 tackles and LB Davon Williams had nine. Noble and Dejonte Harper added seven stops apiece, and Darryl Maxwell, Jaylin Franklin and Marquavious Fisher had five apiece.
COACH GERRY STANFORD’S COMMENTS: “Every game Hallsville has played has been close, outside of Marshall when things just went against them early. We knew they were coming in and were going to play hard.
“Our kids did a good job and were able to pull it off in the end. It was a great game to coach in, and our kids continued to give great effort and execution. We just need to keep doing that this week and on into the playoffs.”
