Liberty-Eylau junior varsity defeats Quinlan Ford on way to district win
Liberty- Eylau’s junior varsity squad defeated Quinlan Ford, 32-7, on their way to win a district championship.
Korbyn White scored two rushing touchdowns for the Leopards. Talveyion Cooper scored two rushing touchdowns and also threw a touchdown to Quevo Kirkendall. L-E finished with a record of 9-1. TaKylan Hampton went for the hat trick in touchdowns, pacing LibertyEylau’s frosh squad past Quinlan Ford, 26-8.
Kentraille Collins added a touchdown on his 42-yard run and also had an interception for the Leopard defense. Keylon Watson caught a 2-point conversion reception from Ezekiel Brown for L-E. Darrion Crabtree scooped a fumble recovery for the L-E defense.
The offensive and defensive lines of Liberty-Eylau were spotlighted by the Leopard coaching staff for their performance during the game.
Tigers win district
Texas High’s 9th grade squad defeated Pine Tree en route to becoming district champions, 42-33.
Montre Arnold put the Tigers on the board with his 36-yard reception from Rian Cellers. Dequarreon Collier punched in the 2-point conversion.
Vontrey Anderson scored touchdowns for Texas High on runs of 4, 22 and 42 yards. Anderson also completed a 2-point conversion.
Clayton Smith caught a 6-yard pass from Cellers for THS. Smith also caught two 2-point conversions from Cellers for the Tigers.
Texas High (8-1, 6-0) won district with their win over Pine Tree.
DeKalb tops QC
QUEEN CITY, Texas—DeKalb’s junior varsity squad defeated Queen City on the road, 12-8.
Ramaj Vaughn scored the Bears first touchdown on a 13-yard strike from A.J. Burgin. Jamar Vaughn scored DeKalb’s final touchdown on a 2-yard run. DeKalb finished the season at 7-2. Logan Shelton had a 75-yard touchdown run for the Bulldogs, and the 2-point conversion came on a Vonte Frank run. Queen City finished the season at 6-4. Queen City (7-1) blanked DeKalb (4-4) in the 8th grade contest, 35-0.
Imahd Hicks, Arlander White, Austin Terry and Brandon Parkman, each scored rushing touchdowns. Hicks and White converted 2-point conversions for QC. Mamassah Drayton scored on a 99-yard fumble recovery and Julian Rey booted an extra point for Queen City.
The Bears (8-0) defeated the Bulldogs (4-4), 44-6.
Jeremiah Drayton scored for Queen City on a 66-yard run.
Amar Love scored on runs of 20, 34, 35, and 55 yards for DeKalb. Alex Mendelola scored on a 10-yard run and Kaleb Dooley dashed to the end zone on a 30-yard run for the Bears. Dooley also converted a pair of 2-point conversions. Wyatt Huggins punched in a 2-point conversion and also threw one to Conrad Crouch.
Bulldogs edge Dragons
REDWATER, Texas—Peyton Davis had three, 2-point conversion runs, threw two touchdown passes and ran for a 4-yard score, but Redwater’s junior varsity was clipped by Jefferson, 40-36.
Davis threw a 58-yard TD pass to Logan Johnson and a 48-yard strike to Nick Fernandez. Johnson scored two rushing touchdowns from 50 and 6 yards out for the Dragons.
