CHRISTOPHER SIMPSON

-

Christopher Roger Simpson, 46, of New Boston, Texas, went home to his heavenly Father on Friday, November 10, 2017, at a Texarkana hospital.

Chris was born January 23, 1971, in Texarkana, Texas. When Chris took on a job, he was a hard worker. As a rubber worker at Red River Army Depot, he earned the nickname of “Speedy” for working fast. He took on the challenge of caregiver to his grandfather, Abe Allen. Chris loved being outdoors, duck hunting, fishing, gardening, even mowing the grass. He was a good fisherman and could catch fish when no one else could. Chris took pride in his garden, enjoyed cooking and often traded recipes with friends and family. Though Chris struggled to be the man God wanted him to be, he never gave up trying. One of his many favorite Bible verses was Jeremiah 29:11, “’For I know the plans I have for you,’” declares the Lord, “’plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’” (NIV) Chris’ family takes comfort in the knowledge that he is resting in the arms of Jesus. Chris was a member of Malta Baptist Church in Malta, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Abe and Ruth Allen and George L. Simpson Sr.

Chris loved his family. He is survived by two sons, Dylan Simpson of New Boston, Texas, and Casey Simpson of New Boston, Texas; his mother and stepfather, Sheila and Ed Higgins of New Boston, Texas; his father, Roger Simpson of New Boston, Texas; his grandmother, Sybil Simpson of New Boston, Texas; two brothers, Reggie Lewis of New Boston, Texas, and Michael Simpson of DeKalb, Texas; and numerous other family members and friends.
