Arkansas High falls to Greenwood, 38-0

GREENWOOD, Ark.— There’s always next year.

Arkansas High fell to Greenwood in a 6A secondplay­off game at Smith-Robinson Stadium on Friday night, 38-0.

The Hogs came out with their foot on the pedal in the opening possession.

A couple of missed passes and AHS was forced to punt

in the midfield.

The Bulldogs struck first, after a few costly penalties, which put Greenwood in scoring position.

Senior quarterbac­k Connor Nolan dove in the endzone for the game’s first touchdown with 6:22 left in the first quarter.

The Hogs began to gain their composure in the second quarter.

After a three-and-out, junior Drake Browning boomed a 57-yard punt to flip the field for the Razorback defense.

The AHS defense kept their aggressive pressure on Nolan.

Greenwood kept the ground-andpound running game going into the second quarter.

The Bulldogs marched down the field behind the legs of tailback Kenny Wood.

Wood put Greenwood in scoring position and Nolan connected with Peyton Holt on a 8-yard slant to put this Bulldogs ahead of the Hogs, 14-0, with 4:59 remaining in the half.

Greenwood’s defense forced AHS to play from behind the chains.

The Hogs defense chased Nolan down and forced the signal-caller to fumble. Junior Demetrias Charles recovered the fumble for the Razorbacks.

AHS was unable to capitalize off the Bulldog turnover.

The Razorbacks trailed Greenwood going into intermissi­on, 14-0.

Greenwood opened the half with the ball, after winning the toss and deferring.

The Hogs kept their defensive prowess against Nolan and company.

After a back-and-forth exchange with both offenses, Greenwood’s Grant Ennis booted a 27-yard field goal with 6:33 remaining in the third quarter.

Not to be detoured, the Hogs kept taking shots at the Bulldog defense when given the opportunit­y.

Junior Irijah Price fielded a Greenwood punt and returned it 21 yards to the midfield.

After a three-and-out, the Bulldogs began to march down the field.

After Nolan threw a 41-yard strike to Zane Harmon, Greenwood reserve Jackson Webb dove in the endzone from 6 yards out with 0:49 on the clock in the third.

Nolan connected with Kade Orlicek on a 8-yard dart, to give the Bulldogs some cushion, 31-0, with 9:23 remaining in the game.

Nick Vota intercepte­d an AHS pass with a 10-yard return for a touchdown, evoking the Sportsmans­hip Rule with 8:19 remaining in the second round playoff game.

Hog junior tailback Jordan Hall rushed for 99 yards on 22 carries.

Arkansas High finished the season 6-6.
