Jean Sellers Godfrey, age 95, passed away December 7, 2017 in a local hospice facility. She was born December 29, 1921 to Will and Gertrude Sellers. She was a teachers aid in the TISD for many years, and the oldest active member of Hardy Memorial United Methodist Church, where she retired after 30 years as the nursery worker.

She was a loving wife, mother, sister, and friend. She was preceded in death by her husband of 27 years, Hartwell Godfrey, son, Anson Godfrey, parents, brothers, W.H. “Dub” Sellers, James Sellers, sisters, Margaret Smart Forbes, Doris Godsey and Amelia Sellers.

She is survived by brothers, Bobby Sellers, of Texarkana, Texas, Nelson Sellers (Reba), of Jonesville, La.; sisters, Frances McCartney (Gerald) of Tyler, Texas, Helen “Tiny” Mangum of Waldo, Arkansas and host of nieces, nephews, and friends; special caregiver, Patsy Waldrep, and close friends Nona Phillips, Carol and Barbara Means.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday, December 11, 2017 at Hardy Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. Patrick Evans officiatin­g. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park under the direction of Texarkana Funeral Home, Texas.

The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to Hardy Memorial United Methodist Church,

6203 N. Kings Hwy, Texarkana, Texas 75503.
