Cathy Harrison announces bid for county judge
Miller County Tax Collector Cathy Hardin Harrison has recently announced her intention to run for county judge.
“To my f r iend s , employees and most important the citizens of Miller County, I would like to announce my candidacy for Miller County judge. While I am honored you have trusted me to serve as tax collector, I come to you once again to ask for your support and most importantly your vote,” Harrison said.
Harrison touts the recovery of more than $615,000 in delinquent taxes as an achievement during her tenure at tax collector.
“It was not long ago that the Miller County Tax Collector’s Office was under a cloud with questionable legal issues, concerns and a poor working environment that did not promote efficiency and transparency. These are just a few reasons I decided to ask for your support when I ran for Miller County tax collector,” Harrison said.
Harrison said she pushed for the implementation and use of sound technology in many Miller County offices to provide a safer work enviroment and a place to conduct county business.
“This technology, used on hand-held cellular devices, allows instantaneous contact to E-911, medical and other first responders to emergency circumstances. This proactive thinking prevents our employees, family and friends from becoming victims to becoming reactionary in times of emergency, helping direct first responders to the scene,” Harrison said.
If elected, Harrison says she would establish a committee to study county roads.
“I will form a road committee to help evaluate our road infrastructure and use targeted funding priorities to address the worst repairs first and ensure that all areas of the county receive consideration and not just certain areas. We must ensure that we have strong infrastructure to support a strong community and business growth. This will helps bring jobs, stabilize communities and provide opportunity for our children to stay in the community where they grew up,” Harrison said.
