Lady Tigers throttle Center, 69-14, in classic

HALLSVILLE, Texas—Texas High girls got off to a fast start and never let off the gas as they routed Center on Saturday in the Fidelity Communicat­ions Holiday Classic at Hallsville High School.

The Lady Tigers took a commanding 41-3 lead into halftime en route to the triumph.

Antonioa Porter led all scorers with 19 points for the Lady Tigers, including three of the team's six 3-pointers.

Pleasant Grove 62, Houston Heights 38

HALLSVILLE, Texas—After and up-and-down first half that resulted in a tie at intermissi­on, Pleasant Grove came out in the third quarter and ran away with an easy victory over Houston Heights in the Fidelity Communicat­ions Holiday Classic at Hallsville High School.

The Lady Hawks scored 39 points in the second half while only allowing 15 en route to their ninth straight victory.

Monique Walker led the Lady Hawks with 18 points, while teammates Madeline Haak, who was selected to the all-tournament team, finished with 17 and Sha'Nequa Henry added 13.

Houston Heights' Gracelynn Alvarez came away with a teamhigh 15 points.

Pleasant Grove (11-5) takes its winning streak to Gilmer on Tuesday.

Nacogdoche­s 42, Liberty-Eylau 40

Liberty-Eylau lost three players because of fouling out and Nacogdoche­s executed a rally in the fourth quarter to come away with the victory.

Derrica Henderson led the Lady Leopards with eight points.

Liberty-Eylau (12-10) will be at home on Tuesday to host All Saints with a varsity-only game slated to tip off at 4 p.m.

New Boston 43, Gladewater 24 New Boston 47, Spring Hill 38 Henderson 55, New Boston 46

HALLSVILLE, Texas—New Boston won two of its three games during the Fidelity Communicat­ions Holiday Classic at Hallsville High School.

New Boston held Gladewater to five points in the first half en route to a commanding win on Saturday, with Carleigh Reeves leading the way for the Lady Lions, scoring a team-high 10 points. Two other players finished with eight points each.

Against Spring Hill, the Lady Lions came out of halftime with a 21-point third quarter to help cushion another comfortabl­e win. McKenzie Thomas, Chloe Davis and Reeves scored 10 points a piece in the victory.

NB's only loss came to Henderson, which extended its win streak to nine games, and Reeves again was the leading scorer with 14 points for the Lady Lions.

New Boston (11-9) will travel to Queen City on Tuesday.

Boys Texas High 71, Idabel, Okla. 67

IDABEL, Okla.—Texas High took advantage of a poor third quarter by Idabel and survived a late rally to win the consolatio­n game of the Idabel Winter Classic.

The Tigers had three players in double-figures, including a game-high performanc­e from CJ Kelly, who scorched the nets for 25 points. Teammates Caleb Wilson finished with 14 points and Kyle Wright added 13.

Texas High (9-6) will be back in action on Friday with a District 16-5A game at Sulphur Springs.
