Miller County sheriff to seek another term
Miller County Sheriff Jackie Runion has announced he will seek re-election. Runion, who has been in office a little more than a year, said Miller Coun ty Sheriff ’s Office has increased the number of arrests on drug and theft charges.
“I’m proud of our accomplishments in 2017, which increased the visibility, responsiveness, and quality of services to our citizens. The accomplishments in my first term are just a starting point, and my desire is to continue those advances to provide an even more professional and responsive law enforcement agency in the coming years,” Runion said.
Runion said he has fostered good working relationships with area schools as well.
“I made a fundamental commitment to the citizens of Miller County to ensure the welfare and public safety of our community to the best of my ability. Part of that commitment resulted in working with both the Fouke and Genoa school districts to assign a full-time deputy to serve as a school resource officer,” he said.
The policy changes in the Miller County Detention Center have streamlined the operation of the facility, and have improved both security and cost effectiveness in daily operations.
“My 44 years of professional law enforcement experience at both the state and local level has prepared me to lead the Miller County Sheriff’s Office and the men and women who are committed to both public service and public safety in Miller County,” Runion said.
