In basketball, you have to be consistent in all facets.

The depleted Latter Rain squad fell to Arkansas High at Razorbacks Gym on Monday night, 69-62.

The contest started a little sloppy with both teams committing over six turnovers combined in the opening period.

“It’s another home win for us here at Razorback Gym,” Arkansas High head coach Sam Weaver said. “It’s good to come out and get a win in between our conference skid to see where we’re at. I was pleased with our effort tonight.”

The Razorbacks led the Knights after the first quarter, 19-11.

The Hogs were able to wake up under the hot hand and shooting stroke of senior Fabian Phillips. Phillips ended the first period with 10 points and finished the night going for a game-high 39 points.

“Fabian had a great game for us,” Weaver said. “Every time he scores, you have to give kudos to Cameron Dockery because he is finding him in good scoring position. Fabian has done a great job for us all season long and tonight is a testament of that.”

AHS blew a 15-point lead in the middle of the second quarter but quickly raised their defensive pressure to regain a comfortable lead before heading into the locker rooms.

Christian Greer shot lights out from the perimeter for the Knights. Greer made five treys in the second period and finished with a team-high 23 points for Latter Rain Christian.

The Hogs edged the Knights at half, 43-32.

Phillips and company kept their foot on the gas to begin the second half.

AHS ended the third quarter edging the Knights by double-digits, 58-14.

Micah Yarber kept the Hogs offense flowing, finishing with 11 points on the night.

“Micah had a good game for us as well tonight,” Weaver said. “We needed to win this game, coming back into conference play on Friday night. We had a few mental lapses but we will get that corrected in practice this week.”

Latter Rain Christian made a surge in the final quarter.

Led by seniors Juvarian Lee and Greer, the Knights brought the game to a 5-point AHS lead with 3:04 remaining in the contest.

Lee poured in 14 points for LRC and Hector Neito added 10 points.

The Hogs travel to Lakeside on Friday, with the action beginning at 5 p.m.
