Three teens accused in vehicle burglaries

-

Texarkana, Texas, police arrested three teenagers Tuesday and are looking to identify a fourth in connection with recent burglaries in the Spring Lake Park area, according to a press release.

Andrew Jones, 17, and two boys, ages 14 and 15, were charged with evading arrest. Jones was also charged with unlawful carrying of a weapon.

“Warrants are being issued for burglary of a vehicle for the suspects in custody, and detectives are working on identifying the fourth suspect,” also believed to be an underage boy, said Sgt. Geoffrey Lewis, spokesman for Texarkana, Texas, Police Department.

The teens were arrested after leading officers on a short foot chase about 4:30 a.m. Tuesday, according to TTPD.

A patrol officer saw four males walking behind a closed business on Summerhill Road, and when he tried to talk to them, they fled, Lewis said. He and another officer caught three of the four and found on them a stolen weapon and “numerous items believed to be stolen from vehicles in the area,” the press release states.

Jones was taken to the Bi-State Justice building jail, and the other two boys were placed in the Juvenile Detention Center.

Detectives are working to find the owners of the possible stolen property recovered from the teens, Lewis said.

Detectives want to remind citizens they should always lock their doors, take the keys and remove valuables from their vehicles while parked.

“One of the suspects told detectives they would move on to another vehicle if they found a locked door,” Lewis said.
