Foreman Gators snatch win from Trinity Christian

The Foreman Gators came out smokin’ hot in the fourth period, scoring 28 points in the final period to come away with 66-61 victory over the Trinity Christian Warriors Tuesday evening at Wallace Edgar Arena.

Trinity Christian held a ninepoint lead, 47-38, entering the final eight minutes, but the Gators canned their first four 3-point field goals, and continued to pull away for the victory.

Isaac Carver led the Gators with 26 points while Kyren Batey had 13 and Devon Threadgill knocked down 11.

Reid Fellers led the Warriors with 17 points, Colton Youngblood had 12, and George Leopard tossed in 11 points.

Trinity grabbed a 12-7 first-quarter lead, and took its biggest lead, 21-9, midway in the second period.

Foreman scored the next six points to draw within, 21-15, and pulled within, 26-23, at halftime by outscoring the Warriors, 14-5, in the final four minutes of the second period.

Trinity maintained its threepoint lead until JR Kemp scored two field goals to put the Warriors up, 40-33, at the 3:20 mark of the third period.

Trinity (12-9) increased its advantage to 45-36 when George Leopard nailed his third 3-point

shot of the game.

The Warriors’ big nine-point lead quickly disappeare­d when the Gators nailed four straight 3-point shots. Threadgill tossed in three of the long shots, and Carver the other.

Foreman (9-2) took its first lead, 54-53, on a basket by Zach Carver.

Fellers and Youngblood kept the Warriors close. but the Gators continued to pull away for the victory.

“We played a good game offensivel­y, but they hit some real big shots in the fourth period,” said Trinity coach Jonnie Smith.

Trinity will be traveling to Bryant, Ark., to play Arkansas Christian Academy Friday.
