School superintendent steps down

-

Ashdown School District Superintendent Jason Sanders resigned his position last week during a special school board meeting to take a position as assistant superintendent over facilities at De Queen School District in fall 2018.

The school chief will finish out his contract, which ends June 30.

“I want to thank the Ashdown School Board and the community for allowing me to serve as their school superintendent for the past four years,” he said. “I’ve enjoyed working with the board. We have a tremendous school system, and everyone in the Ashdown community should be proud.”

Sanders said resigning was a difficult but right decision. He came to the Ashdown, Ark., district after serving for three years as superintendent of Foreman School District.

“I will be working extremely hard until my very last day to do everything I can to help Ashdown schools,” Sanders said. “I’m also very humbled to have been hired by De Queen Schools. I know they had several quality applicants for the position, and I’m humbled to have been chosen.”
