Cheers & Jeers

-

JEERS: To PGISD trustees. Here we go again, taxpayers hold on to your check book, PGISD is once again trying to pass a bond for a grade school, to the tune of $18 million plus dollars. This is the same bond that tax payers have rejected 2 previous times, the trustees don’t seem to understand “NO.” They now tell us they will build somewhere other than Bringle Lake, hummm. Why not sell the Bringle Lake land before they ask for more money, that’s the way the rest of us do business. I plan to vote no, again.—D.H., Texarkana, Texas

CHEERS: To Texarkana, Texas, Parks and Recreation for cleaning up the POWMIA Memorial on State Line! We should be proud of our city gardens and the folks who take care of them. Extra Cheers to Texarkana, Ark., for the wonderful Mardi Gras celebration. Folks don’t have to leave town and people came from miles around to enjoy these festivities. Go Texarkana!— C.D.L., Texarkana, Texas

JEERS: To five military deferment, “my button is bigger than yours” President Trump, for wanting to spend millions on a military parade , just to “keep up with the Joneses” (the French). Adding to national debt, just to please the president.—J.B., Texarkana, Ark.

JEERS: Woodland Road, which connects 24th Street with 35th Street (Texarkana, Ark.), has become a race track for teens and young adults. If the police would park on the street, they might be able to slow down some of the speeding activity. The worst times are 7-8 a.m and 4-5 p.m.—M.R.N., Texarkana, Ark.
