TASD board to consider technology bids, bonuses

-

Texarkana, Ark., School District’s board of directors will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday to consider several technology bids and a bonus for classified and certified personnel.

Bids include 102 Chromebooks for Arkansas High, 114 of them for North Heights Junior High and 141 for College Hill Middle School. Additional bids will be considered for band instruments at all three schools.

A bid for cultural competency professional development for all administration, faculty and staff members is also on the agenda, along with sound equipment for the AHS cafeteria stage. All purchases will be paid for through the school’s $15 million federal magnet grant it received to extend the science, technology, engineering and math threads from the elementary to the middle, junior high and high school campuses.

The board will also consider a $750 bonus for classified and certified personnel, to be paid in March.

According to District Finance Director Andrew Hill, the district’s projected long-term debt expenditures were less than expected following the bond restructure voters approved in November, and the remaining funds will be used for the bonuses.

The 2018-19 school calendar will also be considered.

The meeting will be held in the Administration Building, 3435 Jefferson Ave., Texarkana, Ark.
