Pancake Day is set for Saturday

The Kiwanis Club of Texarkana’s 60th annual Pancake Day will take place from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Texarkana College in the Truman Arnold Student Center.

For $5, people will get allyou-can-eat pancakes, eggs, sausage, bacon, coffee, juice and milk.

There will also be a 5K race in conjunction with the event, beginning at 8 a.m. Registration for the 5K is $30 for adults, $15 for children and $10 for strollers and pets. Register at signmeup.com or call the Care Pet Clinic at 870-330-4740.

Race day registration is available from 7 a.m. to 7:45 a.m. The awards ceremony will be at 9 a.m., and the Kids K race starts at 9:30 a.m.

Other activities available during Pancake Day include a bake sale, raffle sale, pancake eating contest, kids’ area, cupcake walk and a Kiwanis information booth.

“This is a fun event,” Mark Bledsoe, Kiwanis Club president-elect said in an earlier article. “Anytime you have breakfast and good food and you’re able to combine it with other activities that surround the event, it’s just a good time.”

The serving line should move quicker this year.

“We have an extra new grill in the mix so the serving line will go quicker,” Bledsoe said.

Proceeds from the Pancake Day benefit many different programs in the community. Last year $22,000 was raised with this event, which was used to support about 30 different agencies or projects.

In 60 years, more than half a million dollars has been raised
