Horatio scores six in 4th, beats Farmington in tourney

Ralph Gross Memorial Tournament Horatio 9, Farmington 3

NASHVILLE, Ark.—Powered by a big six-run fourth inning, Horatio drove itself past Farmington on Saturday.

Kenley Anderson pitched six solid innings and struck out five for the Lions.

Horatio’s Zach Izzo had two hits and two RBI and teammate Michael Jones finished with an RBI.

Horatio 10, Warren 0

NASHVILLE, Ark.—Horatio scored in each inning but one and kept Warren scoreless on Saturday to wrap up its tournament play.

The Lions’ 10 runs came on eight hits.

Ryan Vaught and Garet Wilson each had two RBI for the Lions, and Easton Leonard pitched six innings while striking out two.

Season Play

Queen City 17, Quitman 0

BIG SANDY, Texas—Queen City had a big day on both sides of the field and throttled Quitman on Saturday.

Jordan Maxwell posted the win on the mound for the Bulldogs, pitching a one-hitter and striking out two.

Queen City’s Josuea Rea and Matthew Davenport led the way offensivel­y. Rea had two hits, including a double, and four RBI. Davenport also had 2 RBI and a double.

The Bulldogs (3-2) will be back in action on the road Tuesday when they start district play in Redwater. First pitch scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

Softball McKinney Tournament Allen 5, Redwater 3

McKINNEY, Texas—Redwater fell to Allen on Saturday, 5-3, in the McKinney Tournament.

Bethanee Calicott had six strikeouts for the Lady Dragons and teammate Savannah Corbell slugged a two-run home run.

Redwater finished the tournament with a 3-2 record.

Queen City 2, Prairiland 0

QUEEN CITY, Texas—Queen City scored early in the first inning which proved to be the winning run as it held Prairiland scoreless for the shutout victory on Saturday.

Emily Maxwell hit an RBIdouble for the Lady Bulldogs, and teammate Joyce Calloway had two singles in the win.

Queen City 20, Wolfe City 1

QUEEN CITY, Texas— Queen City put on a hitting clinic against Wolfe City in its win.

The Lady Bulldogs scored six runs in the first inning, 10 in the second and four in the third to run away with the run-rule victory.

Jacie Lance belted a home run, a tripe and a single as she was a double shy of hitting for the cycle. Teammates Marlee Durmon and Macey Belote each had a double for the Lady Bulldogs.
