Al Davis seeks election to JP District 2 seat

Al Davis has announced his candidacy for District 2 Justice of the Peace in Miller County.

“The justice of the peace is truly the people ’s court, and I am running for the position because I have a passion for serving the community and its citizens. A vote for me means a vote for experience, commitment and strong values,” Davis said.

Texarkana is Davis’ hometown and he has been a businessma­n in the community for more than 25 years.

He has co-owned and operated KTOY 104.7, Texarkana’s first AfricanAme­rican-owned radio station, for 14 years and since 2007, he has owned KTEV community television station broadcasti­ng from Channel 15 on Cable One and Channel 19 on UHF.

Davis is a retired military veteran and has served as a reserve deputy for the Miller County Sheriff Department for the past 18 years.

Davis is a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School, Grambling State University with a bachelor’s degree in business education and Pepperdine University with a master’s of business administra­tion.

He is a lifetime member of Miles Chapel C.M.E. Church and currently serves as the “trustee chair.”

Davis is also a commission­er for the Texarkana, Ark. Historic District and has served on the MillerBowi­e Literacy Council.

He is a board member of the Texarkana Boys and Girls Club and is president of the Theta Upsilon chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc.

Davis is also a member of a Rotary Club for 18 years.

He has been married to Delphynne Jones Davis for 53 years and have two children.

“Values I support and hold dearly include honesty, equality, integrity, fairness and perseveran­ce. Safe communitie­s are my priority. I support resources for our law enforcemen­t and fire department­s, safe parks and recreation­al spaces, and upkeep of our streets, roads and bridges,” Davis said.
