Spencer Brown, 26, of Nash, Texas, is accused of violating a protective order

-

A Nash, Texas, man has been arrested by Texarkana, Texas, police for allegedly violating a protective order after he was found hiding in the trunk of his former girlfriend’s car.

Spencer Brown, 26, is being held in the Bi-State Justice Building jail. His bond was set at $25,000 total on three misdemeanor charges, said Shawn Vaughn, spokesman for TTPD.

Officers were dispatched to a suspicious circumstances call at 8:23 a.m. Wednesday at the Walmart Neighborhood Market on Summerhill Road. The victim told officers that she heard movement inside her vehicle and then heard Brown calling her name after she parked in the store parking lot.

Brown, against whom she had recently been granted a protective order, then emerged from the trunk of her vehicle. The victim then ran into the store and called 911.

Officer Kim Weaver spotted Brown a few minutes later as he walked down College Drive away from the store, Vaughn said. She immediately recognized Brown and knew he had an active arrest warrant because of a department-wide bulletin a day earlier. Brown allegedly violated the protective order earlier in the week.

When Weaver stopped Brown, he repeatedly insisted that his name was Jerry and denied having just come from Walmart, according to a press release. After she told him she had seen his mug shot and knew his name that he admitted he was lying, police said. He was arrested without incident for alleged failure to identify and the outstanding warrant for violation of a protective order.

Officer Brent Lawing spoke with the victim at the store and confirmed her account by watching surveillance video of the parking lot. Brown was charged a second time with violating the a protective order.

Police are not certain how long Brown was hiding inside the victim’s vehicle, Vaughn said.
